Inspired by ‘The Smile Room’, The Taco Room combines horror elements with excellent world detail providing a visually impressive horror experience.

  • RobertWK’s Review:

I have to admit–I never could make it through ‘The Smile Room.’ I think I only got a few minutes in before it creeped me out too much, but The Taco Room seems to be a somewhat light-hearted spin on it. In terms of aesthetics, the world is really well made. The textures and lighting are really thought out, and there are some interesting design choices such as character narration. There aren’t really puzzles per-se, and it isn’t really an escape room, but there’s definitely a need to keep going and escape the environment. The only thing I don’t love about The Taco room that would give it a higher score is the over reliance on mazes. It might be part of the ‘homage’ to The Smile Room, but it makes the world seem to stretch on a little too long. Not all of the mazes are the same though and some are arguably better to navigate than others.

I still highly recommend this world for you to check out this year, or any other time as a part of the Spookality 2023 world jam.

  • Katchy’s Review: The Taco Room is a fun parody of The Smile Room that has a lot going for it beyond being just a parody. I like how the jumpscares are just cute little tacos (aside from a few which I won’t spoil). If someone has trouble with the more scary horror worlds, this is one should be a good one to take them to to experience a horror world without too many scare parts. (Rating: 7.5)
  • Ondanya’s Review: This world is a good parody of The Smile Room. The jumpscares were goofy and cute. It’s perfect for showing to anyone who does not do well with regular horror worlds. (Rating: 8)
