Fractone is an analogue synthesizer in VRChat that features a sequencer/tracker with the ability to save the output as plaintext.
RobertWK’s Review: I have never had the opportunity to mess around with any kind of synthesizer. The most digital audio exposure I ever had was owning a Yamaha keyboard with preprogrammed midi samples. Thankfully, Fractone exists as a VRC version of the real deal: a full keyboard synthesizer/sequencer that lets you program songs and modify waveforms with lots and lots of knobs and options. It also has loading and saving with plaintext imports and exports, along with a help guide on how to use it. You may have to set your avatar’s height to be something a little shorter to comfortably change the knobs without crouching or being in an awkward position. One of the best parts about the interface is that there was some thought that went into the spacing and control of each knob so it doesn’t feel like an exercise in frustration to access one knob versus it’s neighbor. If you’re into making music with sequencers, then this is absolutely a world you should visit. (Rating: 8.5)
Katchy’s Review: Fractone is a very impressive virtual tracker/sequencer that I could see some potential in, if you can get it to work properly. I ended up using keyboard controls while in VR because I was having issues with my controllers, but it worked. The keyboard is probably the best I’ve seen in VRC. I felt like I could actually play a song because of the sticks you hold to play it, as opposed to other VR keyboards where you use your hands and are just a little too hard to actually play. I struggled a bit with the tracker itself, and I’d like to see instructions next to it instead of having to constantly open the help menu, but other than that it was fun to play around with.
