KEY LOCK is a unique puzzle world that implements advanced and creative mechanisms for players to solve the challenges.
KEY LOCK is like no other puzzle world that I’ve seen before. I have loved the mechanism of a virtual polaroid camera in VRChat ever since I’ve seen it floating around in different worlds, but being able to use it to solve puzzles is another level. It seems like magic that the world creator, AIRE.vrc, made it work perfectly and in a multifaceted way. It feels intuitive and yet complex at the same time, and I can imagine that it took a lot of work to get working exactly as intended. This world feels like it received a lot of polish and could have been the work of a professional level designer. I don’t want to give anything away in this review, but I absolutely want to see more of this mechanism, and more by this creator.
The only downside is that the world is predominately in Japanese. I wish that there had been pictorial glyphs to explain the different functions of the camera, but playing around with it and observing what it does can also provide enough clues to figure out what to do next. I also appreciate that the puzzles are not so punishing that they aren’t impossible to solve if you aren’t sure what to do. If you’re looking for puzzle worlds that are in similar vein, consider Triangular.
