Rhythm and Timbre is a sequencer brought to you by the creator of ‘Fate of the Irrbloss,’ a multiplayer space-faring adventure simulation.
RobertWK’s Review: Rhythm and Timbre is both a sequencer and an audiolink world. I suspect that xCirrex intended to build an audio sequencer that was both intuitive and easy to use, but it’s not straightforward if you have never used a sequencer ever before. I appreciate that the author made the sequencer gigantic–there are definitely no issues with accidentally pushing a neighboring button or control instead of the one you intended to activate. It’s just that it takes a lot of experimentation to understand what is affected by what. I wish that there was a little more visual correlation made between the different controls. The types of patterns and rhythms you can produce sound great, and if you are able to figure out how everything works then you can create some pretty nice beats. Unfortunately there’s no export or save feature, so if you want to record your audio you’ll just have to stream your video/audio feed out to something like OBS for later editing. If you don’t have any exposure to sequencers and want one to play around with, check this out. (Rating: 7.5)
Katchy’s Review: It’s a fun little beat kit, though I couldn’t see anyone making a full song based on this world. It’s a good start to learning how to create music though, and if someone was feeling up to it, I’m sure you could make a basic track to use as a basis or background for a full track. (Rating: 7)
