Sailing is a simulation of piloting a boat out on the open seas, with a little bit of adventure tossed in. It includes realistic wave and wind physics.
RobertWK’s Review: Out of all the vehicle based worlds in VRChat, this is one of the most well executed. You can do just about everything that a modern sailboat is expected to be capable of: drop anchor, deploy and steer sails, check depth, plot a course, use a backup motor (along with burning fuel) and even run aground. The wave and wind physics are technically impressive and seemingly dynamic. There are comfort options to change the environment and ‘fast travel’ to different locations, so sailing isn’t a requirement if you don’t want the full boating experience. Overall this is one of the nicest vehicle experiences, and other than a rare bug or two, the operation of the boat is seamless and doesn’t break immersion too much. The world also offers a side quest or two, so if you want to have a little bit of adventure with your travel, then that is an option. (Rating: 8)
Katchy’s Review: It’s sailing! In VR! I mean, there’s actually a bit more to it than that. I think it stands fine on its own with the ability to sail around the map, and it feels quite real too thanks to the wind effect and the great ambient sound, but there are actually a few little things to do here besides sailing like a few quests that take you around the map in search of treasure down in dark caves, and a shore full of flotsam made up of cargo containers full of graphics cards (so that’s where they all went). I also enjoyed being able to go into the interior of the boat itself, it just felt cozy. A great world to bring a few friends to and just enjoy some good ol’ sailin’. (Rating: 8)
