A minimalist bowling alley copied over from AltspaceVR.
There are a few different bowling worlds in VRChat, and while many of them look great and have good environmental ambiance, they all tend to use different versions of the same udon bowling prefab asset. Unfortunately it seems like this asset hasn’t been updated in some time and is a little buggy.
Zerkker Lanes is perhaps not-so-nice looking, but there are a few features that make it stand out from the rest. The first is that it just works; it is simple and if you want bowling in VRChat, it is served up.
Second is that the score display is large and highly visible. This is good for several reasons, the least of them being for better viewability for those with accessibility needs in VR.
The third is that Zerkker Lanes has global and instance-wide leaderboards, which makes this a competitive feature across all of VRChat.
Last is that there is a trace option so you can visually see how each roll went, and that can be useful for improving your game.
There are a few downsides, but for me that doesn’t take away from this being one of the better bowling worlds in VRChat. I would like to see more, different balls and perhaps a ball return system, and also the choice to play your own music. There is a lot of potential here and I hope that the creator puts in some time to add a lot more polish to the environment, as VRChat worlds that look great tend to also get the most visits.
